Johhny Eck

Johhny and Robert Eck were fraternal twins born in 1911. Johnny was born without the lower half of his torso. In 1937, Johhny and Robert were recruited by the illusionist and hypnotist Rajah Raboid, for his "Miracles of 1937" show. In it they performed a magic feat that amazed audiences. Raboid performed the traditional sawing-a-man-in-half illusion, except with an unexpected twist. At first Robert would pretend to be a member of the audience and heckle the illusionist during his routine, resulting in Robert being called on stage to be sawed in half himself. During the illusion, Robert would then be switched with his twin brother Eck, who played the top half of his body, and a dwarf, who played the bottom half, concealed in specially-built pant legs. After being sawed in half, the legs would suddenly get up and start running away, prompting Eck to jump off the table and start chasing his legs around the stage, screaming, "Come back!" "I want my legs back!" Sometimes he even chased the legs into the audience. The subsequent reaction was amazing - people would scream and sometimes even flee the theater in terror. As Eck described it, "The men were more frightened than the women - the women couldn't move because the men were walking across their laps, headed for the exit." The act provided the perfect jolt by frightening people at first but then caused just as much laughter and applause. The illusion would end with stage hands plucking up Eck and setting him atop his legs and then twirling him off-stage to be replaced by his twin Robert, who would then loudly threaten to sue Raboid and storm out of the theater. Their act was so popular that they played to packed audiences up and down the East coast.

How to remove Windows Maintenance Guard

Someone I know recently called me with Windows Maintenance Guard locking down their computer. It's more a less a super annoying virus that attempts coerce you into buying their software to protect your PC.

Basically Windows Maintenance Guard will run on screen if you try to launch Internet Explorer, Task Manager, Regedit, etc. I didn't try command prompt, but I'm sure it would too.

Basically I had the computer reboot into Safe Mode with Networking, from there I was able to connect to, http://join.me/, using Internet Explorer, but I had to run it by searching for "iexplore" in the Start Menu. From there I was able to remote into the PC. Then I had to upload RKill to my Dropbox Public folder. From there I could download and run RKill. I attempted to download RKill directly from http://bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/, but Windows Maintenance Guard immediately kills Internet Explorer at that point. So, that's why I used Dropbox to download and run RKill.

RKill successfully killed the virus that was running which then let me go download MalwareBytes and start it running. I haven't finished this virus removal yet, but from what I've read, MalwareBytes should take care of the rest.

Call of Duty 3 for $30 @Kohls

Really Kohl's, do you think people are going to pay $30 for the worst game in the series, and it over 5 years old? All of the other games were only $27.

Not likely. I just bought Halo Anniversary for $20 new, and it's less than a year old. Honestly I don't know how the reviews went, but it's worth it purely for nostalgia's sake.

Oh yeah, I had nothing else to do while we were in Kohl's yesterday.

Thinking about trying to talk my boss at work into buying the $55 helicopter!

Trying to post regular blogs again.

Wow, another six months has passed since I lasted posted here. Obviously I hardly ever post anything important, but I'd like to make this a more regular occurrence.

Black Friday Deals!

We couldn't resist the Black Friday Deals either. We left our apartment around 11:45 PM and returned by 12:45 AM. Below is a picture of the huge line that circled around to the back of the building where we were at the end.

It took us about 10 minutes to make it into the store. As we entered the store we could hear the crowd outside cheering as the first successful customers carted out flat screen LCD TVs.

The store was rather organized and they seemed to have plenty of TVs and other electronics. After we asked a store employee we quickly made our way to the back where a large stack of our desired merchandise was waiting for us.

...And as you can see in the other picture below we were able to get in and out with our new Casio keyboard.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Yes, I went to the "Midnight Release" of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Yes it's my 3rd year in a row to go to the same Best Buy and get the latest Call of Duty game. Once again they held a simple Single Elimination Tournament where we played 4v4 Team Deathmatch on Black Ops. I couldn't get a full 4 guys to meet me at Best Buy, so I showed up by myself and joined the first team who still needed an extra. They clearly weren't the best players, but what did I expect?

Anyways, we won our first 2 games, with me leading the team, and finally lost to get 4th place in the tournament during the 3rd round. I believe I joined a random team 2 years ago and got the same placing with a similar team.

So, it was a late night and it will take me some time to adjust to the new game...
